File Extension UTZ Description:

The UTZ file extension is employed for the Symbian Operating System's user interface themes. It consists of one XML file that describes the user interface arrangement and a compilation of several resources like mp3 sounds and PNG graphics.

Symbian was designed for mobile devices, with related libraries, reference implementations of common tools and user interface frameworks, created by Symbian Ltd. The UTZ file runs exclusively on an ARM processor and is the successor to Psion's EPOC.

The Symbian operating system has restrictions on use or private alteration, or with limitations evaluated to be excessive in publishing and reproduction of either modified or unmodified versions. Symbian is presently owned by Nokia (47.9%), Ericsson (15.6%), Sony Ericsson (13.1%), Panasonic (10.5%), Siemens AG (8.4%) and Samsung (4.5%).

The .zip file that contains images and other data that can be used for the cellular phone theme can easily be interchanged and saved as an .utz file for it to be able to work. Some windows based servers, however, require the allowed specifications presumably for the files are accessible and downloadable. The file manager is responsible to locate the .utz file and by just clicking the file, a pop up appears asking to install it in the system. It contains a device that determines the description of all patches. It starts by unzipping the file as the Themes Creator into an empty directory. It features an import function that defines the text colors in UIQ3 themes in terms of little images. The Themes Creator is able to create themes for the various types of UIQ3 phones. Manual creation of themes can use scripts as an alternative for Themes Creator. Scripted creation is available for both Windows and Linux using Object-Rexx (Open Source project provides free implementation of objects).
