File Extension STD Description:

The STD file extension is used to store labels created for CDs, DVDs as well as their cases. Files with the file extension .std contain images that are sized and arranged specifically so that when printed they can fit compact discs (CDs), digital versatile discs (DVDs) and the cases that can be used to contain them. Using templates pre-loaded with the software creates files with the .std file extension. These templates allow users to include lists of files or tracks included in the disc, images or other text. Once printed, the labels can be printed so they can fit discs or cases exactly.

Using the SureThing CD/DVD Labeler from MicroVision Development, Inc can create files with the STD file extension. The program is used solely to create labels for CDs and DVDs.

Files with the file extension STD are also used as label templates by the program exPressit Label Design Studio from Memorex. These files are used as the basis for labels created by the program. Users can load templates, which already come with their own lay-out and formatting. Once loaded, the users can create information to the template and save them as a finished label.

The STAAD.Pro application from Research Engineers International also uses the .std file extension. The program is used to create and analyze three-dimensional models. These models are used to create designs of structures and buildings. The designs include the details of the materials used in the creation. Files with the .std file extension contain the finite element analysis (FEA) for steel materials. Files with the file extension STD are used to import or export simulated designs of steel objects.

Prosa Software from Insoft Oy also uses the STD file extensions. Programs from the Prosa line of software are used to create object models written in the UML (Unified/Universal Modeling Language) programming language. Files with the .std file extension contain the graphics that are used by the state transition diagram feature. This feature is used to create data flow diagrams. Files with the .std file extension are referenced whenever users need graphics to use with the feature.

The STD file extension is also used for:

1. Translated documents created by PROMT software.

2. Standard script files used as system resources for the LocoScript word processor.

3. Drawing templates used by both the StarOffice and OpenOffice.org program suites.
