File Extension OIF Description:

Intuit Incorporated created the OIF file format for its flagship software Quickbase. The said program is a web-based database application with the purpose of creating unique custom applications without the need for writing codes and is exclusively used in the Linux operating system. Quickbase is commonly used in business operations like project management, supply chain management, and sales management.

The OIF file extension is web-sharable, which means that this file format enables Quickbase to be acquired and transmitted throughout the realms of the Internet and this is usually done through web-based subscription of the file.

The main purpose of the OIF file extension for Quickbase is to integrate it with Interchange software. Developed separately by Perl Corporation, Interchange is an open source web application server, which has the capability of delivering software such as Quickbase to client computers by means of Hypertext Transfer Protocol. Interchange is such a multipurpose and database-enabling application used by websites customarily focused on e-commerce, but has now been universally used as a full-blown application server.

By using Interchange as the application server, the OIF file extension extensively uses server-side scripting on dynamic contents and regular integration with database engines. With server-side scripting, the OIF file extension permits the modification of the supplied page source between pages in Quickbase, allowing sequence adjustment. Furthermore, it allows the reloading of web pages or web content supplied by Quickbase to the browser.

The OIF file extension also integrates Interchange documentation, which is the main feature of Interchange, to the Quickbase program. This feature allows Quickbase to have an organized documentation and collation of data and comes with a custom-built, Interchange-driven library system, which was patterned from Wikipedia.
