File Extension CBR Description:

The file extension .cbr is used to rename the CDisplay RAR Archived Comic Book Files. The Comic Book Archive file is also called the Comic Book Reader File. The CDisplay program to be used in the RAR archive type displays the comic book images. The CBR file extension was produced to make the image viewing of files in JPEG, GIF, and PNG format easier for the users.

Running the CDisplay is done on quick start. It uses the entire display for images, and the menu is not present. The right mouse click is used for pop up. With the CDisplay, the whole directory has been pre-selected; pressing go will enable reading of the files with the CBR file extension. The left mouse click key is for the selection of a range of files. When selecting a RAR or ZIP file, the first page of the file will be displayed. The space bar, page up, page down, end, home, and the arrow keys, will aid the user in viewing the files.

Borland C++ Builder 5.0 was used in writing CDisplay; it has also been tested under the operating system of Windows 98/ NT 4/ 2000/ XP Tablet. The file type with the CBR file extension has no file writing capabilities, since its purpose is solely for viewing the files. The viewing is automatically presented, one image at a time, or two images at a time.

The image files saved in the file extension CBR are those in the RAR archive file that do not need decompression, in order for them to be read or viewed. These files can be viewed sequentially, and with simple, single key presses, scrolling around the files' pages can be done.
